I got this idea about 5 minutes before I sat down to write it, at 3:35 AM while I was lying awake in bed (comment below if you’re also a chronic insomniac).
The concept sort of popped into my head out of nowhere, and I’m going to run with it. All of a sudden I just thought, “Why should you only get one bucket list per lifetime?”
There’s a lot of cool shit I’d like to do, so why not start this year?
We all talk about our bucket lists, but most of us never actually take the time to write it down. And even if you do, you probably never really make an effort to get to the items on that list.
Because we always like to think we’ll get around to the list eventually.
But life is short, and you never really know how much time you have left. So instead, I’m creating a list of all the things I want to do most, and I’m going to make time in 2019 to get to all of them.
Here we go!
19 Cool Things I’m Doing In 2019:
1. Hire a virtual assistant and get comfortable letting go of the reins a bit when it comes to my business.
(Wait, is this a bucket list or a dry, boring to-do list? Let’s make this shit a bit more exciting, shall we?)
2. Take a photography class.
And maybe stop taking such shitty photos. (Someone had to say it.)
3. Buy the entire Adobe Creative Cloud and at least dabble in Lightroom and Photoshop.
TBD on when I’ll get to the other 9 million programs, but hello exciting tax write-offs!
4. Land a client so big, I want to brag, but be a big enough person not to.
(Oh, who am I kidding… let’s just keep the bragging to a minimum.)
5. Publish at least 100 new posts to this blog.
That’s a fun one! I’m thinking of taking this blog in a new direction, and would like to get on a more consistent publishing schedule—stay tuned!
6. Read at least 30 books.
This will be a tough one for me, especially at the rate I’ve been finishing books lately. I told myself at the beginning of the month that I’d try to finish 3-4 books each month, and so far, I have not even come close. But there’s still hope! And this brings me to the next item on my bucket list…
7. Improve my time-management skills.
What kind of loser can’t manage their time properly? Actually, a lot of people, and one of them is me. 2019 is the year I work on that! I’ll start tomorrow… 😉
8. Stick to the fucking plan and stop with the procrastinating.
This may technically tie into number 7, but fuck it, it’s my list and I’ll do what I want.
I have a way of putting off tasks until the last possible minute, and I don’t want to do that anymore. Why create unnecessary anxiety, right?
9. Take a graphic design class.
I should probably mention here that these items are not ordered in any specific way. As far as priorities go, I’m thinking graphic design is a more useful skill than learning how to use my camera properly. But both sound really exciting to me and I’m going to make sure I get to each one before 2019 is over!
10. Take more photos with the boyfriend and family.
Once the weather gets nicer and we have more free time, I want to take the camera and go for mini day-trips on the weekends. We have some cool parks and trails and other nature-y places around that I think would be really fun spots to take photos.
11. Overhaul my closet so I only have clothes I actually love.
I’ve held on to far too many ugly outfits, “just in case…”
12. Keep at least one plant alive.
I bought a kit to grow a Venus fly trap a few months ago, but I still haven’t actually set it up. I’m thinking the summer will be the best season, what with all the fruit flies and such (window air conditioner problems, am I right?).
13. Cut and maintain bangs.
If Taylor Swift can do it, why can’t I?
14. Create a cleaning routine and stick to it.
Also, I want to learn more about cleaning with vinegar. I’m digging the natural product thing as I read more about the dangers of household chemicals.
15. Find something exciting at a yard sale.
I’m still holding out hope that one day I’ll find some awesome antique jewelry or a great piece of furniture for a steal!
16. Try that damn chicken chili recipe I printed out over a year ago.
Too lazy to go look at our recipe binder, but I’m pretty sure this is the one. To be honest, all of the chicken chili recipes on SkinnyTaste sound pretty good (and I can personally vouch for the Buffalo Chicken & Bean Chili—we use ground turkey instead, though, since it’s cheaper).
17. Get a pair of Chuck Taylors without paying full price.
Look, my inner teenager just wants them, okay? And while we’re at it, add these Doc Martens to the list.
18. Make a kickass Irish coffee (and find someone willing to drink it with me).
I “inherited” a beautiful set of antique Irish coffee mugs (is that what they’re even called?) and I’m determined to use them before the year ends!
19. Go on a vacation, no matter how small.
We’ve been doing staycations for the last 3 years, and while I have no qualms about saving money, I’d like at least a few days away. Nothing too crazy, but a change of scenery would be…therapeutic.
