The reason for that is twofold: I’m usually busy and I hate going to the store.
As I’ve probably mentioned before, I’m not much of a frivolous shopper these days. Saving is a huge priority, so I try not to throw away money on things I don’t need.
That said, I happened to need a fair amount of stuff this past month, so I thought it’d be fun to do a blog post about it.
I’m sure if you’re reading this, you probably get a little “Amazon happy” at times too (it happens to the best of us). So if you’re on the hunt for fun stuff to order or just want to see how I spend my money, look no further!

1. Alba Botanica Hawaiian Aloe & Green Tea Oil-Free Moisturizer
Is there some contest I’m not aware of that rewards brands for creating the longest name possible? Just curious…
Anyway, last month, I decided to spring for a moisturizer that a makeup artist mentioned on YouTube, and of course, it gave me a full face of acne. Yay!
So as much as I hate wasting, I had to stop using that moisturizer and switch to something more compatible with my skin.
I always have a good experience with Alba products, and I’d tried this moisturizer before, so I knew it would be worth the money. My only complaint is with regard to the packaging; I’m not a fan of dipping my hands directly into stuff, and I think that’s why I’d previously stopped using this moisturizer.
Despite that, I love the lightweight feel of this product, and I get the impression that Alba uses mostly natural ingredients, so that helps justify that not-so-affordable price. Better yet, within just the first few days of switching moisturizers, my skin started clearing up.
Thank God for Alba Botanica!
2. Betty Dain Shower Cap
I ordered 2 of these suckers.
They’re not the cheapest shower caps you can find, but they’re the best.
I’ve got dyed hair and I can’t be bothered doing anything with it most days, so not washing my hair has become a beloved pastime. I’ve tried a lot of different shower caps over the years, and I always find that the Betty Dain brand is the best.
If you’re tired of having clean hair, I suggest you pick one of these up!
3. Disposable Clear Plastic Shower Caps
Hm, maybe I am high maintenance after all…
I don’t like these “shower caps” much for keeping my hair dry in the shower; instead, I use them to hold in the heat when I’m dying my hair so the color can process more evenly. (I use permanent liquid hair color, so it’s also great to have something on my head that can keep the dye from dripping all over the house!)
4. That’s Right…. I Bought Amazon’s Underwear
This is sort of a weird thing to talk about, but I’m going to be blunt: I’m hoping to make some money from this post, and hey, sex sells, dammit!
I’d be lying if I said it isn’t weird seeing the Amazon logo printed inside your underpants, but other than that, these seem fine so far.
I don’t have much else to say on the subject, but if you’re like me and hate buying underwear at the store for fear of touching something that’s been returned, I think it’s worthwhile to give these a whirl!
5. Black Latex Salon Gloves For Dying My Hair
This post is just all about hair, isn’t it?
I usually buy my hair coloring gloves at Sally Beauty, but the pair I most recently bought was actually way too small for my hands, and I didn’t feel like making another trip there.
If I’m being completely honest, these gloves got my attention because of the packaging, but it’s also a pretty good deal to get 5 pairs of gloves in a single package. Plus, these fit a lot better than the pair I had, so this was definitely a good buy!
6. Manfrotto Advanced Gear Backpack
If you have a camera with interchangeable lenses, then you probably know how annoying it can be to constantly attach and detach your lens every time you want to take photos.
Since I have a big, hunky DSLR, I decided to buy this bag to store my camera with the lens attached and still feel like it’s sufficiently protected if I’m taking it out somewhere with me.
I haven’t gone anywhere with this bag yet, but just from looking at it, I think it’s going to be perfect for what I need!
7. Maybelline Brow Define Pencil in Deep Brown
Another hair-related product!
I’m a natural blonde but I dye my hair dark, so I need an eyebrow pencil to pull off this illusion! I first tried this pencil a few years ago and quickly fell in love, so now I just get them delivered every month as part of my Subscribe and Save package.
If you’re looking for a new brow pencil, I recommend ordering this one to see what you think. I only use the pencil side, but I think it gives me a pretty natural-looking result!
8. Oral-B Dental Floss
I used to feel bad about paying over $5 for name brand dental floss when I could get the generic version for about $0.80 at Walmart, but I’ve learned to move past that guilt. (Anyone who’s ever shopped at a Walmart knows it’s not a fantastic experience, and when you think about how much gas costs, then you start to realize you’re not saving much if you drive to the store.)
So now I just order this and hope it makes up for the fact that I haven’t had a cleaning in almost a decade. (Ain’t nobody got time for that!)
9. St Ives Body Wash With Sea Salt and Kelp
Another Subscribe & Save item, but I figured it’s worth the mention!
I like using this body wash to exfoliate my legs in the shower, and since the bottle’s pretty big, it usually lasts me awhile, so the price isn’t too bad when you look at it that way.
10. Alba Botanica Natural Acnedote Deep Pore Wash
If you are a pimply, self-conscious teenager (or a pimply, self-conscious adult, for that matter), try this stuff.
Any time my skin starts getting out of control, I use this face wash with my silicone cleansing pad and the acne usually starts clearing up almost immediately. It’s amazing, and one bottle usually lasts me a pretty long time.
10. LapGear MyDesk Lap Desk in Black
This month was kind of exciting, because I bought myself a new work laptop (yay write-offs!).
I love being able to work on the couch…or in bed… or in our giant, comfy chair.
But since I don’t have a death wish, I’m not about to put the laptop directly on my legs. I like using the lap desk instead, because it provides a flat surface for the computer to cook instead of my legs!
Win-win!
11. White Cheddar Cheetos… Because I CAN!
Sometimes, when you combine PMS with a credit card, you get a box with 36 snack-size bags of white cheddar Cheetos.
I’m not sorry.
12. Assorted Office Supplies
I hadn’t realized until now how much money you can save buying your office supplies on Amazon (as opposed to Staples, my usual go-to). I just picked up a box of black BIC pens, some BIC highlighters, and a Swingline 3 hole punch (https://amzn.to/2OD7yHt)
Nothing too fancy, but it gets the job done!
13. MacBook Pro Plastic Case
Like I mentioned, I bought a new computer this month, and for those who don’t know, I’m a bit of an Apple fanatic.
I’ll probably never buy a PC.
But one thing about Apple that I really don’t like is how easily their laptops scratch. Is this just a thing with all laptops?
I’d only had my computer for a few days when I noticed it looked a little scratched on the outside, so I immediately logged onto Amazon and ordered myself a plastic case.
I hate how tacky it looks, but I’d rather have a tacky-looking case than a scratched up brand new computer.
Sacrifices.
14. 32 Oz Ball Mason Jars
I liked mason jars before they were trendy, and now I just feel like a basic bitch.
But the wide-mouthed mason jars are perfect for my iced coffee, so despite how much I hate following trends, I’m using mason jars, dammit!
We had some really awesome ones with handles that I was using previously, but of course I broke them while washing the dishes. So, for now, these ones without handles will have to do!
15. Foot Massage Rollers
I haven’t been formally diagnosed, but I suspect I may have plantar fasciitis… basically a fancy word for occasional stabbing pains in the foot.
I won’t go on too long here, because I hate feet, but I figured these foot rollers aren’t too expensive, so I may as well give them a try. So far, I’m satisfied!
16. COWIN E7 Active Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones
These just came yesterday (and I’m actually wearing them right now)!
I don’t love them as much as my BlueAnt Pump Zone headphones, but unfortunately, those aren’t being sold anymore.
I’ve recently gotten into the habit of listening to guided meditations when I go to bed, so I kind of can’t imagine life without a pair of wireless headphones. Because of that, I decided to treat myself to a second pair of headphones to have as a backup in case my good ones die (God forbid I should have to suffer one single night without headphones, right?).
I’ve never been much of a technology enthusiast, because I don’t like buying expensive things, so when it comes to headphones, my only criteria is that they’re comfy, they sound decent, and they have Bluetooth with a decent battery life. Oh, and they need to be under $100 or I’m going to feel seriously guilty.
So when I saw the COWIN headphones with thousands of positive reviews on Amazon, I immediately added them to my cart. I’m a little ashamed to admit that I only briefly skimmed the reviews.
These headphones are good, but I’m not completely in love with the way the buttons are set up. For instance, the Volume Up button is located below Volume Down…. was someone in the development team smoking crack that day?
I’m also not crazy about the fact that each button has multiple functions; I would prefer separate buttons for play/ pause, skip, and previous, but I guess you can’t get it all (especially if you don’t do your research, like me).
Aside from those minor complaints, the overall quality is pretty good. I’m happy with the sound, and from what I did read, the battery life is pretty good, at around 30 hours per charge.
Since I already have a pair of headphones that I am in love with, these are good enough to serve as my backup pair.
17. Set of 3 Storex Mini Crates in Teal
I’ve been on a real organizing kick lately.
We needed to free up space in our closets to store some things for a family member, and I actually enjoyed the challenge. I bought a ton of containers this past week to help us stay more organized, and these mini crates are perfect for organizing our shelves.
These come in a case of 3, so at first I only ordered 1 set, but I like them so much, that I decided to order more.
They interlock with each other and stack so nicely, and it’s oddly satisfying to see our things organized in matching bins. I just love it!
18. Sorbus Foldable Storage Bag Organizers For The Closet
They just came today, so I haven’t set them up yet, but my plan is to use them on our closet floor to put away clothes that are out of season.
Since we don’t have a walk-in closet, I figured these bags will help us get more out of the space we do have.
Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see a post with before and after photos of our closet setup!
